What is the one thing that limits you in your growth?
Is it money? Is it health? Is it time? Is it your intelligence? Is it resources? Is it circumstances? Is it age? Is it relationship?
None of the above are the real limiting factor. All such factors can be taken care of. Then what is it?
The one and the only one factor that can really limit you from growing to what you dream to be is, your MINDSET.
Yes, it’s your mindset that is stopping you from achieving what you want to achieve. It’s not money, health, time, intelligence, resources, circumstances, age, relationship or any other such factors.
If you can take care of your mindset, anything is achievable.
What is a mindset and why should we work on it?
The simplest way to define mindset is – The way we think.
Is this not simple? Yes, it’s simple but we ourselves make it complex.
How do we make it complex? By making it work against us.
Why do we make it work against us? Because we limit out thinking by viewing at the negative and limiting side of the things.
What can happen if we change our viewpoint? Our world will change and abundance will fulfill our life.
Is it really possible to change our mindset to live a life of abundance? Yes, by changing our mindset, we can achieve whatever we can dream.
Is it that simple? Yes, you become an achiever by simply working on one thing, your mindset.
If you have the right mind set, then all other limiting factors like money, health time, intelligence, resources, circumstances, age, relationship etc. will fall in place.
Now you can see, why mindset is important and why you must work on it to live your dream life.
The best part is, to work on your mindset, you are not dependent on any external elements. It’s you who is in procession of your mind and you are in full control of it.
How mindsets are formed and how they work?
Whatever you see around you, was once a thought that has manifested into a being from that thought.
You see a massive beautiful building in front of you, that was in thought once and by working on that thought, it’s standing in front of you today.
Everything first takes shape in our mind before it manifests in physical level.
We all get ideas, but very few of us work on those ideas. Those who work on their ideas to make it happen, are successful. That’s the difference between success and failure and it’s all mindset.
The art is, how you channelize your thoughts. You must learn to channelize your thoughts in right direction to have a right mindset.
As per Wikipidia, “a mindset is a set of assumptions, methods, or notions held by one or more people or groups of people. A mindset can also be seen as arising out of a person’s world view or philosophy of life.”
Through our journey of life from our childhood till present, our conscious mind receive all kinds of information (input) which are processed and stored in our subconscious mind.
The stored information in our subconscious mind forms our mindset. It’s also called paradigm.
This mindset or the paradigm determines, how we behave. We are driven by them.
In other words we can call it programing of our mind. All fresh information input is processed as per the programing of one’s mind (mindset).
This makes it clear, each one of us has different programing depending upon the input that we get through our journey of life based on factors like culture, upbringing, education, experiences, surroundings etc.
Thus, each one of us behaves in a different way, depending upon our mindset.
Can we shift our Mindset?
Let me tell you a story –
One day, a professor entered his classroom and asked his students to prepare for a surprise test. They all waited anxiously at their desks for the exam to begin.
The professor handed out the exam paper with the text facing down. Once he handed them all out, he asked the students to turn over the papers.
To everyone’s surprise, there were no questions–just a black dot in the centre of the paper. The professor, seeing the expression on everyone’s face, told them:
“I want you to write about what you see there.”
The students, confused, got started on the inexplicable task.
At the end of the class, the professor took all the exam papers and started reading each one of them out loud in front of all the students. All of them, with no exception, defined the black dot, trying to explain its position in the sheet.
After all were read, the professor started to explain:
“I’m not going to grade you on this, I just wanted to give you something to think about. No one wrote about the white part of the paper. Everyone focused on the black dot – and the same thing happens in our lives.”
We always focus on the black dot – the problems that bother us, the lack of money, time, spoiled relationships, lack of resources etc.
The dark spots are very small, compared to everything we have in our lives, but our mid gets focused on the dark spots, the problems.
We need to shift our mindset from problems to blessings.
In other words, from what we don’t have to what we have.
Is it really difficult? We possess both, the good and the bad but we focus only on bad. The trick is, shifting the focus from bad to good, problems to blessings.
One of the greatest blessing or asset we human beings have is brain that forms our mindset.
The capacity of our brain is enormous, much beyond we can normally realize.
According to an article published in Scientific American, “if your brain worked like a digital video recorder in a television, 2.5 petabytes would be enough to hold three million hours of TV shows. You would have to leave the TV running continuously for more than 300 years to use up all that storage.”
Do you now realize, what you are blessed with and how much this single asset can change your life?
This asset of ours, brain, is grossly misused and underutilized because we don’t understand and realize its power.

Why should we shift our mindset?
We have seen that mindset shift is possible.
Let me narrate another story –
Long time ago, there lived a king who was very wealthy. He lived in the most luxurious palaces served by dozens of servants. He ate the best meals and wore the best clothes and jewellery, yet he was unhappy.
He offered a reward to anyone who would show him how to be happy. Many came and tried and all of them failed.
Then one day a wise sage came to meet the king. The king explained his plight and the sage listened carefully. The king told the sage that he was ready to do anything in order to be happy.
The sage asked him, “Are you sure that you are willing to make any sacrifice in order to obtain happiness?” The king said, “Yes”, without hesitation
The king was prompted to give up all his wealth and then he would be happy. The king was desperate and expressed his willingness to do anything the sage advised.
The sage asked the king to gather all his valuables such as gold, silver, and jewellery, and put them in a chest and bring it to the sage. The sage asked, are you sure that these are all the valuables you have?
The king replied that he had the land and the palaces but he was ready to leave them behind. But he had put all his valuables in the chest. Then the sage said, “Close your eyes for a few minutes.” And the king does as he is told.
As soon as the king closed his eyes, the sage picks up the chest of gold and jewellery and started running.
When the king realizes what happened, his feelings changed from that of unhappiness to anger. The king started chasing the sage and yelling, “You are a cheat! You have cheated me and you are not a sage, but a cheater!”
After a good period of running the king finally caught the sage and yelled at him, “You scoundrel! You are not a sage, just a common thief. You just wanted to steal my wealth.”
The sage calmly and with a serious look on his face asked the king, “Are you happy that you got your possessions back from the cheating sage?”
The king replied, “Yes!”
The sage then replied, “Don’t you see it? I just gave you the formula for how to obtain happiness! Think about it. Just about an hour ago you had all your wealth, the silver, the gold, and the jewellery. But you were unhappy. Then I took them away from you. Now you have them back and you are happy.”
The sage continued, “Where did the happiness come from? Did it come from the wealth? Or did it come from inside of you, because you achieved something you wanted to achieve?”
The king realizes that the sage had done all this to teach him a lesson about happiness. He respectfully bowed at the sage’s feet and thanked him for the lesson.
Before the lessen given by the sage, the king’s mindset was to find happiness in all sorts of luxuries but didn’t find it.
This shows, it’s not the resources that can give what we desire but right mindset can. The king had all resources with wrong mindset and hence couldn’t find happiness.
Once his mindset shifted, he realised what happiness is.
We need to shift our mindset to get the right angle to look at the things.
How to shift mindset?
Yet another story –
There was once a rich man who, every night before going to sleep, prayed the same prayer to his God.
In his prayer, he would say, “God, please do one favour to me. I have been asking this for my whole life. I am most unhappy man on earth. I am ready to exchange my problems with anybody else. Please grant me this wish”
Finally, one night, while everyone in the town including the rich man were asleep, God appeared in all of their dream and gave the following instructions, “Gather all of your problems into one bag and bring the bag to the temple hall to exchange it with others.”
Soon everyone in town started packing their problems into the biggest bag they could find and carried them to the temple hall.
The rich man was so happy that this day had finally come. He rushed with his bag of problems towards the hall with the biggest smile he had for a long time.
While walking towards the temple hall he noticed that everyone else in his town was either filling a bag or already had a full bag and were walking towards the temple. He was a bit surprised that everyone else thought they had big problems worth exchanging too.
By the time he reaches the hall, he was nervous, because he saw people carrying bigger bags than his. These were the people whom he always saw smiling in beautiful clothes and saying nice things to each other.
The rich man became hesitant about whether or not to go and exchange the bag. But then he has been praying for his whole life for this, so he decided to continue and see what happens.
When he enters the hall he heard a voice asking to put his bag down in the centre as everyone else did.
When he did so he heard the voice again, to take a look around and choose one bag and once he picked a bag there would be no turning back. Everyone stood still and carefully looked around to inspect the size of other bags.
And then a miracle happened. Instead of taking a different bag, everyone rushed to their own. Without thinking too much the rich man also rushes towards his own bag, afraid that somebody else would take it.
To his own surprise, he didn’t take advantage of his wish that came true.
While walking back home he thought why he didn’t exchange his bag. And the answer surprised him.
The truth was, his big problems weren’t actually that big, and he knew how to deal with them. While on the other hand, he didn’t have the slightest clue how big was other’s problems and how to deal with them.
The realization shifted his mindset and gave him the power to deal with his problems.
This is exactly what happens with us. We misunderstand and underestimate our own capabilities by focusing on problems.
We must realize that problems are part of our life but we are bigger than the problems. Each one of us has the capability to deal with any problem, once we know our inner power.
We can shift our mindset by shear realization of our power within.
You have to believe in yourself irrespective of the external circumstances.
Suggested steps to shift mindset.
Like there are two pans in a weighing scale, there are two sides of mindset.
One side is scarcity mindset and the other side is abundance mindset.

Here are suggested steps that can help you shift from scarcity mindset to abundance mindset –
1. Recognize the power within – We have already discussed the power of our brain that shapes our mind set. Put efforts to notice what type of thoughts you have and which ones are pulling you down.
Work on your negative thoughts.
Once we recognize the power within, we can utilize it to create an abundance mindset by shifting the negative thoughts to positive.
2. Practice gratefulness – Being grateful is one of the most powerful tools to shift your mindset toward abundance. When your focus is on what you have, it automatically gives you positive energy.
3. Possibilities are limitless – When we look at the nature, we see abundance everywhere. Universe has given us limitless opportunities, so there is no limit to possibilities.
Believing in limitless possibilities will shift your mindset towards abundance.
4. Recognize your purpose – It’s critical tohave a clear purpose in life. When you work with clear purpose in mind, you are always motivated. Your purpose becomes you driving force.
5. Set goal – Setting goals will keep you on track. Your goal works as your GPS. You know your destination and the rout to follow.
It’s always advisable to align your goal with your purpose. That is the most powerful way to achieve goal.
6. Pick your thoughts carefully – We continuously have inputs from all around us from different sources which generate thoughts. We have choice and capability to accepted or reject out thoughts.
Be mindful in what thoughts you accept. Don’t allow negative thoughts to enter in you.
7. Learn new skills – Learning new skills will help build your confidence. Learning and confidence building is a continuous process and it helps in creating abundance mindset.
8. Take baby steps – Each baby step taken on daily basis moves you towards your goal. The key lies in consistency. Be consistent.
Remember, you can do it. You have the power to do it. Realize your power within and come out of your cell to live an Abundant Lifestyle by shifting your mindset.
